The Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside My Window... It is a gorgeous day. A cold front came through our area and has made it quite pleasant. The winds however are a BIG concern. The threat of wildfires are very real around here. There is one just a county away. Praying for RAIN!!

I am thinking... Oh so many things! Fall Days!!, Christmas around the corner, the wild fires, family and friends, my children, the never ending "to do" list, last but not least, an amazing Lord and Savior who is always there for me!

I am thankful for ... My Home.. Yes, I get aggravated with it, there is plenty of tweaking and repairs that need to be done, but when I think of others who are losing theirs to fires, flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.. It makes me very humble and grateful for my little home. It may not be a mansion, it may lack design sophistication that one would see in the pages of House Beautiful magazine. It may look unkept more times than I care to mention!(ha!) but that is what happens when people LIVE in their homes. It is a home not a museum. It may need tons of organization but it is my "nest" and I am very thankful for it.

I am wearing.. black yoga type capris and grey tank. Hair up in a clip. Oh, I am so the look of perfection today! NOT!!

From the kitchen.. So ready to paint my kitchen! There are a few dishes in the sink. I am trying to decide what in the world to cook tonight. I may do croquettes, pasta, and broccoli!

From the Learning Room… School is in full swing! The young one is not to keen on all the different subjects that need to be "conquered", but hopefully that will change soon!

I am creating... a mess! I started moving one piece of furniture in the living room, then started dusting etc... then started redecorating! I have also started placing little hints of Fall here and there in my home.

I am reading... the classic, "To Kill A Mockingbird". I just finished reading Victoria and Southern Lady... I can get lost in those pages for hours! I have a paperback novel I bought last year, Fall Blessings that I never really got to read, so if I have a few spare moments I may start on that.

I am remembering....   My young cousins who lost their mother a year ago, and now have lost the man who was like a father to them. I am somewhat on the outside looking in, not as close as we once were. My heart and prayers are with them as the go through this valley of grief yet again. A very sad situation.

I am hoping...to have have a fabulous week!!

I am hearing... absolute SILENCE. That can be such a good thing!!

I have noticed.. that summer is coming to an end.

Favorite Thing... My new netbook! Makes connecting to the Internet so much easier

Pondering these words... "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms", a great hymn, a true message of hope to anyone who has been through some pain. We can lean, fall, and stumble into the Everlasting of Arms of God. HE is always there

A few plans for the rest of the week.... Not to much on the calendar, just soccer practice, the usual errands,etc.. It should be a very domestic, "homey" week.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing....

So Long Sweet Summer... See You Next Year!

I pray the fires stay far away from you. I can’t imagine how terrifying that would feel. We had horrible tornadoes come through our state (Alabama) this spring but thankfully my neighborhood was spared any serious damage. We were without electricity for a week though, which was very strange. But the Lord provided and we actually enjoyed the downtime together.

I finally read “To Kill a Mockingbird” for the first time just a few years ago and loved it.

A “homey” week – those are my favorite kind. Thanks for sharing your Daybook.
