BIBLE STUDY

 Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard.

At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.

1 John 2:7-8

 To me these verses say we do not need new commandments for our lives, the old ones work just fine. It is that we need to look at them in a whole new way. The Light of the Lord will give us a new way in seeing them.. A new way to see how they work in our lives. A new way for them to shine... Have you ever read a verse in the Bible, maybe have read that verse a thousand times, but finally you have a lightbulb moment and that verse begins to take on a whole new meaning to you, like it is the very first time for you to have read it. That is what I feel John is trying to convey here.. If Christ is in us, everything takes on a NEW LIGHT. My prayer is that I always look upon God's commandments as not merely rules, but look upon them and apply them to my life so that I may live VICTORIOUSLY in the LIGHT that SHINES from the Lord..
